Some Shit Of Interest.

First, this is the aforementioned fragment of HOLGA film that will never make it to China. It's interest is admittedly debatable.

Second, I am a big Penny-Arcade fan. I read their blog about the LittleBigPlanet 'controversy' this morning before class. Having not heard about the Qur'an lyrics thing, I found out more here.
After reading the part about what the lyrics were and what they meant (“kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt,” which when translated into English says “Every soul shall have the taste of death,” and “kollo man alaiha fan,” which means “All that is on Earth will perish.”) I was a little confused because from what I've seen of LittleBigPlanet, the gameplay looks pretty friendly.
Having spent this mornings Earth-History lecture learning about the abiotic origin of amino-acids from one ear while listening to some brutal-ass hardcore in the other I was pretty fired up to find out what sort of face-shredding guitars and lighting-fast blast beats accompanied these growling apocalyptic words of Mohammed.
To my surprise it turned out that Toumani Diabate, the musician who wrote and preformed the 'blasphemous' song titled "Tapha Niang" included in LittleBigPlanet is actually an African musician (and devout Muslim) from Mali who plays a traditional harp-thing and applies the describers "Afro-beat / Acoustic / Jazz" to his sound.
He's also a drummer and singer and has played at Carnegie Hall and The Montreal Jazz Festival.
He also won a fucking Grammy.
As they said back in the great Beta Vulgaris famine of '01:
"His beats are sick."
Not what I was expecting - AKA Deathmetal, Blackmetal, (insert bleak adjective here) metal - in terms of controversial, 'blasphemous' (note, it is not blasphemous, not that I give a shit) music.
Looks like political-correctness and organized religion spoil everyone else's good time: Dog Bites Man.

Third, today's Earth-History lecture was fucking awesome. I learned a grip of shit about nucleic acids, lipids, and abiotic processes culminating in the creation of motherfucking organic matter.
We've found amino acids on the fucking Murchison's meteorite...
AKA a fucking ROCK FROM SPACE. FROM FUCKING SPACE.
This shit is incredible.
