Fact: I'm a fucking nerd.
That being said I can unabashedly state that when I stumbled across the entire series of Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing on the internet I fruck out.
To clarify, it's not that I'm a huge anime fan. Usually manga, its derivatives, and the subculture of people spawned by the genre is homicidally annoying. The Gundam Wing series is one of a few outstanding exceptions.
The most compelling character in the series is Zechs Merquise. He is introduced as an aristocratic Lieutenant in the OZ corporation and an initial antagonist to the five Gundam pilots (who could be considered the "heros" of the story). Zechs as a character represents the struggle between war, peace, and power that is at the heart of the entire Gundam Wing plot.
His hidden identity as Milliardo Peacecraft - the heir to a historically pacifistic dynasty - provides a counterpoint of conscience to his role as a warrior and mobile-suit pilot.
